This is my first cabled knitting project. It is the Star Crossed Slouchy Beret. It is a free download on Ravelry.com. I had fun cabling. It is currently being blocked on a paper plate. I can see in the picture that I don't have it centered, so I need to go fix that. Next up will be my first sweater--a short sleeved one of course. I would hate to go to all the trouble and have to wait until winter to wear it.

Cute hate, I've yet to try cabling, maybe I will try this project. Good luck on your sweater.
I meant to say "hat" of course, maybe that's my clue that it's time to go to bed lol.
Great beret!
I love berets!!
You are doing a great job with your knitting (in a short time). You are providing me some wonderful encouragement to try a hat. I have a petal tam beret on my to do list which may be moving up the priority list.
I taught myself knitting last year (scarves and wristlets). This Feb I started to knit garments.
Thank you for visiting my sewing blog. FYI. I also have a knitting blog: http://2bknitting.blogspot.com/
Can't wait to see your next knitting project...Susan
This is great. It's hard to believe you are a beginner! I tried to comment on your last post to tell you how much I like that yellow top butfor some reason my computer was acting up and wouldn't let me leave comments.
Hi Rachel...thanks for visiting my knitting site. Yes, the lace pattern in my post is knitted. Looking forward to your first sweater. :)
Rachel, thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. The plaid jacket is Burda World of Fashion, April 2009. Isn't it cute?
Love the beret. One of these days I need to learn to knit, I'm just afraid of accumulating another stash.
This looks gorgeous! I love the flecks of colour in this yarn :) Good luck with the sweater - do you know which pattern you're going to use?
